00:41 / The zipper.
The day crew left the Moon half open again. Nobody has admitted responsibility. A star was found on the floor behind the curtain, which makes this either a routine housekeeping problem or the beginning of a very inconvenient meeting.
We checked the switchboard. Every light was marked NORMAL except the one marked DO NOT MAKE NORMAL. We left that one alone. The maintenance manual refers to it only in a diagram that has been folded through the important part.
01:16 / Public-facing appearance.
From outside, everything looks reassuringly lunar. Craters. Familiar outline. No visible staff entrance. The small red zipper pull remains the only irregularity, and the supervisor has decided that most people will assume it is fashion.
This is encouraging for the department and excellent for fashion. We have therefore moved the incident into the category THINGS SOMEONE ELSE MAY EXPLAIN. The category is already quite full.
02:03 / Handover.
For the incoming shift: return the spare star to its hook, put the velvet back, and stop using the far-side console to charge your phone. If anyone asks what is behind the Moon, direct them to the research archive. If anyone asks what is behind this shirt, there is a person wearing it.
Filed as fiction. No celestial maintenance personnel were consulted.
