Analytics choice

Optional analytics scripts load only after you choose to allow them. You can reopen Privacy choices from the footer at any time. Necessary storage remembers that choice and supports basic site operation.

Vercel Web Analytics supplies the initial cookie-free page-view baseline through this site's own domain. Query strings and URL fragments are removed before a page view is sent. If Plausible or Google Analytics is configured for deeper product measurement, it follows the same consent choice.

Homepage experiment

A necessary first-party cookie remembers whether you received the claim-first or observe-first homepage for 30 days. It contains only the assigned variant, is not available to client-side scripts, and keeps the experience consistent between visits. Experiment events are recorded only after analytics consent.

What measurement includes

Product analytics can record page views, case-file opens, calculator use, kit recommendations, telescope-guide priorities, Moon-filter workflow and fit choices, broad phone-and-eyepiece measurement bands, broad parallax-input bands, Moon-illusion choices and diameter-difference bands, Apollo exposure-model states, lunar-flash classifier choices, field-note actions, source opens, newsletter submissions, and outbound recommendation clicks. Event properties are limited to the content, placement, and non-personal setting involved. The phone-photo finder does not collect a phone model or exact measurement, the Moon-illusion lab does not send entered pixel diameters, the Apollo workbench sends only its controlled teaching-state labels, and the parallax lab does not ask for observer coordinates.

What measurement excludes

Analytics events must not contain an email address, full referrer URL, IP address, free-form notes, or a profile of personal beliefs. Affiliate merchants apply their own privacy policies after you leave this site.

Private field notes

The lunar field-notes tool saves its form values and sketch only in your browser. The note is not uploaded to us. If analytics are allowed, the site can record that a note was started, copied, or printed, plus a broad completeness band, but never the note fields, location text, question, observation, or drawing. Clearing the sheet removes its local record.

Affiliate market routing

The hosting platform can provide a two-letter country code so an outbound recommendation reaches an appropriate partner destination. The site reduces that value to a broad market such as US, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, EU, or default. Server logs record the broad market, not a city, coordinates, or the visitor's IP address.

Email

If you join the observation list, the configured email provider receives your address and subscription source. Every commercial email must identify the sender and provide a working unsubscribe path.

Questions

The public privacy inbox is awaiting launch configuration. Until it is supplied, launch validation remains blocked and the subscription endpoint remains disabled unless an approved provider is configured.
